When you first start noticing your weight creeping up, what should you do?
According to Joy Bauer's answer to this question, in the February 2008 issue of Self, you need to first identify the reasons for the change. Are you spending too much time with Ben & Jerry? A food diary can help you uncover subtler sources of added calories, like large portions or extra cocktails. Scaling back your intake to your pregain level should halt or even reverse the trend, but for faster results, also try these tips:
- Make your sandwiches open-faced. Bypass the top slice of bread to save 70 calories. If you eat a sandwich a day, you'll shave off 490 calories a week!
- Eat slowly. Turn off the TV, have a seat and savor the flavor of every bit. Research shows that women take in about 67 fewer calories per meal when they slow down.
- Skip salad dressing. Use balsamic vinegar instead. Dressing can be 75 or more calories per tablespoon, so this trick saves at least 150 calories per salad!

Our health is very important. every part of our body is important. healthy living is really important to free us from diseases. Gaining so much weight predisposes us to be prone to a lot of diseases like Hypertension and CVD.
And with regards to your father, just give your father an advise and let him know that you care for his health and do try to have a check up. Hope that works:)

"I just told my Dad he needs to go to the Dr for his feet. We both have a form of Muscular Dystrophy, I have inserts in my shoes to help distribute weight properly on my feet, but he, who is 20 years older than me, hasn't done anything to help his feet. I'm hoping he'll swallow his pride and go!"
All great tips! Another one for salad dressing is to get it on the side and then just dip your fork in it before each bite. You get a little flavor, and use a fraction of the dressing!

I do 5 or 6 small meals a day. So far that is the only thing that has helped me loose. I also use EVOO (olive oil), vinegar or lemon juice and Mrs. Dash on salads. Salt can tend to pack on the water weight =(
