Side Sleeping Could Be Aging You
>> March 31, 2008
A couple of years ago I noticed that one side of my neck had more and deeper wrinkles than the other . It took me a while to realize why, but one morning as I looked in the mirror it dawned on me. The side that was more wrinkled is the side I sleep on!
Although sleep is a potent anti-ager, 'sleep wrinkles' can be caused by pressing your face into the pillow at night, or in my case, squishing together in the fetal position night after night.
What can be done? The easiest way to keep from getting sleep wrinkles is to learn to sleep on your back. However, since that might be easier said than done, you may want to try an Anti-Wrinkle Pillow like the Eases Gentle Pillow
which claims that their stress free facial channel takes pressure off of wrinkle sensitive areas while you're sleeping to ease night time aging around your eyes and ears, or the Cuprotex Copper Pillow Case
. The Cuprotex Copper Pillow Case is made with Cuprotex fabric. Cuprotex uses the benefits of copper technology woven into the fabric and, supposedly, reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles, fine lines and liver spots.

Side Sleeping? Oh my goodness gracious. I stared at my neck in a hand mirror for 20 minutes before I became too depressed and hurled the mirror away..
I must toss and turn and change sides all night as both sides of me neck are equally atrocious.
Maybe I could try sleeping sitting up.
I can't sleep without pillows sorrounding me from head to put.. Sleep is very important to keep your energized the whole day. Great post.
Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Celular, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://telefone-celular-brasil.blogspot.com. A hug.
That is so true! I am definitely a side sleeper, and I've been noticing these wrinkles on my cheeks. It's worse on the side that I sleep on the most. I'm trying to sleep on my back more, but like you said, it's easier said than done. One thing that has helped me is to warm a Bed Buddy in the microwave for one minute, and then lay on my back in bed with the Bed Buddy under my lower back. I will usually fall asleep that way and sleep for 2-3 hours before I start sleeping on my side.
Now I have to go look in the mirror lol
I never heard of this but it kind of makes sense! I think most people favor one side more than the other - I know I do!
Have a great weekend!
Great, now when I go to sleep at night I'm going to be subconsiously thinking about "must not roll over, must not roll over". Great post.

You know, I really kind of worried about this in the past. I always sleep on one side of my face, and I wondered if it would cause wrinkles. Now I know for sure. This was a really informative article. Thanks for sharing.
omg really? i love sleeping in a fetus-like position.
yay!
I sleep like that all the time because thats the most comfortable position for me when sleeping but now I have to find some other positions to not have wrinkles..
will check for lines after this, 1..2..3 ;)
My goodness...of course I've noticed "sleep wrinkles" in the morning plenty of times...but I had no idea they had lasting effects!
