Almonds For Your Health
>> August 11, 2008
It's been known that almonds have a beneficial effect on your cholesterol. But recently scientists found that adding almonds to a healthy diet helps significantly lower blood pressure, too!
The likely reason? Almonds are rich in magnesium, which has been shown to reduce hypertension. Grab an ounce or two of the nuts a day; that's about the same amount the study participants consumed.
Another study found that almonds "may also contribute towards controlling glucose levels in people with type-2 diabetes." The study suggests that, "because almonds slow down the absorption of carbohydrates in the body, they may assist in the management of diabetes."
But aren't almonds loaded with calories and fat? Yes, but other studies have shown that almonds, when eaten in moderation, "do not cause one to gain weight; instead, they give the individual the satiety sensation and keep him from overeating." So limit yourself to no more than two handfuls a day.

Oh i just love almonds and its good to know its benefits. love this post!
Wow. A true super food if ever there was one. I didn't know almonds were that good. I really must start adding them back into my diet. My parents used to fry them in butter and then serve them with salmon - a very tasty combo. However, ever since I moved out I've never really had them.
Almonds are an almost perfect fitness and fat loss food, especially in their "raw" version. I eat them all the time as a healthy, protein-rich, snack.
I try to eat almonds every day. I take a handful with me on my walks and by eating them, along with other healthy foods and supplements, I was able to reduce my LDL to below normal levels. Great post!
