Sun Savvy
>> August 01, 2008
Take these interesting sun facts from the August 11, issue of First
into account this summer.
Transparent lip gloss has been shown to increase the intensity of the penetration of the sun's UVA and UVB rays (like a magnifying glass), making lips more susceptible to burning and long-term damage. Be sure to apply SPF 30 balm under gloss or opt for one that contains sunscreen to protect your lips.
The lycopene in 4 Tbs. of cooked tomatoes boosts skin's resistance to sunburn by 33 percent -- a big improvement over raw tomatoes. The heat weakens tomatoes' cell walls, making lycopene more easily absorbed by the body.

That's good information to know. A lot of people are still ignorant to the effects of sun damage. Also, carrots are another food that become way more beneficial to your health when they are cooked.
That's interesting. Usually we hear about all of the benefits to raw veggies and fruits, but here's a cooked one... Thanks for sharing :).
I agree, you usually do only hear about raw veggies. It's nice to know that cooking doesn't hurt everything!
