Natural Way To Bring Down A Fever
>> December 24, 2008
I read this tip regarding lowering a fever naturally in the January 5, issue of First. This was the first time I've heard to do this and I thought it was brilliant. Hopefully it helps some of you this winter, especially those of you who have small children.
Britta Zimmer, M.D., is a naturopathic physician who keeps her own daughter's fevers down by dressing the girl's feet in cool damp cotton socks, then layering dry wool socks on top.
She says this works because, "the body diverts heat from the core to warm the feet, bringing down the fever by two degrees; and that cold wet feeling triggers an immune response that helps eradicate the virus in the process."

Wow. Doesn't sound that comfy but if it works it would be a worthwhile sacrifice.
